SHAKER TALL CLOCK

Among the members of the Shaker community at Watervliet, New York was Brother Benjamin Youngs, a skilled clockmaker. Brother Benjamin had learned his trade from his father before joining the Shakers, but his clocks illustrate the effect of the Shaker principles of simplicity, purity, and utility on the clockmaker's craft. This is an exact reproduction of one of his later clocks, built 1810 - 1815. The original is in a private collection in New York State.

We construct the Tall Clock of clear Eastern white pine with painted wooden dial, like the original. Available with either a reliable quartz movement (guaranteed 6 years) or a precision German-made 14-day key-wound floating balance movement (no pendulum). Case measures 15 3/8" wide x 8 3/4" deep x 81 1/2" high. Shown in Medium Stain with Lacquer Finish.

Both versions of the Tall Clock are available as an unfinished kit and a "made to order" finished piece.
