The Shaker Order Of Christmas

THE SHAKER ORDER OF CHRISTMAS

In December 1776, on the Shakers' first Christmas as a community together in America, Mother Ann Lee recognized that this was to be a holy day on which no manual labor should be done, and the tradition continues among Shakers today. This little booklet, by Edward and Faith Andrews, describes what a visit to the Shaker Village in Hancock, Massachusetts in December 1841 might have been like. The joy, the love, and the many beautiful hymns are all described here. 30 pages. Printed in USA.

First published by Oxford University Press in 1954; this is the facsimile edition published by Editions Limited in 1983. This edition has been out of print for many years. We have located a small quantity in our warehouse.
