SHAKER SISTER'S SEWING TABLE

This elegant little table is thought to be a sewing table because Sister Amelia J. Calver (1844-1929), who was for many years a school teacher at the Mt. Lebanon, N.Y. Shaker community, used a table nearly identical to this one for that purpose. The top is surrounded by an attached rim to prevent sewing notion or writing implements from sliding off the surface. The dowels between the side legs allow the user to add a shelf to make the piece even more functional.

We make the Sister's Sewing Table utilizing mortise-and-tenon joinery on the legs and aprons, with a dovetailed drawer. Clear cherry, with a drawer interior of pine. Height is 26 1/2". Top measures 21 1/4" x 17". Shown in Oil & Wax Finish.

Available as an unfinished kit, a "ready to ship" finished piece, and a "made to order" finished piece.

Kit is supplied with Oil Finish, rather than stain, to bring out the natural color of the cherry wood.

When ordering "Finished-Made to Order", you may select Oil Finish or the stain of your choice (see below).

Read the Care Instructions.
