SHAKER WORKSHOPS UNFINISHED OVAL BOXES
Shaker Workshops oval boxes are unique because we make them on reproductions of the original forms and templates used at the Mt. Lebanon, New York Shaker community during the mid-19th century. Like the Shakers, we produce our oval boxes in eleven different sizes and we use the original Shaker numbering system (No. 11 being the smallest box and No. 1 being the largest box).
We handcraft our oval boxes of select Pennsylvania cherry, secured by solid copper tacks. The Shakers used copper tacks because they won't rust or discolor the wood. Tops and bottoms are fastened with wooden pegs. Our unfinished boxes look terrific either oiled or painted.
