CANTERBURY SHAKER ROCKER

Shaker rocking chairs like this one are sometimes called "community rockers" because they were handmade in the various Shaker villages for use by members of the community (unlike the Mt. Lebanon rockers intended for sale to the outside world). This one originated at the Canterbury, New Hampshire Shaker village about 1850. It is petite and particularly comfortable. We make the Canterbury Shaker Rocker in clear hard maple. Height of back is 42 1/2". Height of seat 16". Width 18 3/4". Depth 14". Shown in Medium Stain with Lacquer Finish; woven in 1" Evergreen chair tape in a checkerboard pattern.

Available as an unfinished kit and a "made to order" finished piece.
