SINGLE STEP STOOL
The Shakers used step stools like this one, with its long steadying post, to give access to high drawers and shelves. Several of the two-step stools exist today in museums, but the one step design is quite a rarity. The front leg is dovetailed to the top and braced to the back to give it great rigidity. When not in use it can be hung on a wall peg or it can grace the corner of a room.
We make the Single Step Stool in solid clear cherry wood. Width 7 1/2". Depth 13". Height of step 9". Overall height 33". Shown in Oil & Wax Finish.
Available as an unfinished kit, a "ready to ship" finished piece, and a "made to order" finished piece.
Kit is supplied with Oil Finish, rather than stain, to bring out the natural color of the cherry wood.
When ordering "Finished-Made to Order", you may select Oil Finish or the stain of your choice (see below).
