SHAKER SEED BOXES
In 1816, the Shakers invented the concept of putting seed in the small paper envelopes which are commonplace today. Brightly colored wooden boxes full of these seed packets were delivered to country stores, for sale to local farmers. For nearly a century, Shaker Seed wagons and the kindly Shaker Brothers who sold the seeds were said to be "as familiar as the spring-time." Our boxes have reproduction paper labels on the front and inside the lid. Boxes are hand painted and lightly distressed to make them look old. Handmade in USA.
Available full-scale (shown on left) and quarter-scale (shown on right).
