About the Shakers

The following are people's accounts of their experiences with the Shakers at different times during their history. The Shakers do not want to be remembered primarily for their material objects, but as a people with vital beliefs and philosophy, and a commitment to living up to their religious ideals. If any of you visiting our web site have had experiences with the Shakers and would be willing to share them with us, we would like to post them in this section. Please email your stories to shaker9973@shakerworkshops.com. We will include them here as a way of keeping the Shaker spirit alive. Thank you.
