Harvard Shaker Side Table - unassembled and unfinished kit
This elegant table was originally made at the Shaker community in Harvard, Massachusetts about 1840. Its sleek functional lines illustrate why today Shaker furniture is coveted by antique collectors and copied by contemporary designers. Trestle legs, unencumbered by a stretcher, and an underslung drawer allow it to serve as a sewing stand or writing desk, as well as a bedside or occasional table. The original is in the collection of Fruitlands Museums in Harvard, Massachusetts.
Like the original, we make the Harvard Side Table in clear cherry, with drawer interior of pine. Height is 27 1/4". Top measures 28 3/4" x 17 1/2". Shown in an oil and wax finish.
This item is an unassembled and unfinished kit. All physical components to make this as a project are included along with instructions, however, you will be required to provide the necessary sandpaper, glue, and finish--as well as be reasonably comfortable with your own skills to obtain a satisfactory result.
