Sabbathday Lake Shaker Towel Rack - unassembled and unfinished kit
Free-standing floor racks were commonplace in Shaker retiring rooms, kitchens, and wash houses. This one, still in use by the Shakers at the Sabbathday Lake, Maine community, is well suited for airing quilts and blankets, hanging towels, or drying wet socks and mittens. The original was finished with a wash coat of "chrome yellow" paint.
We make the Sabbathday Lake Towel Rack in clear cherry or hard maple. It measures 33" high x 34" wide x 6 1/2" deep. Shown assembled in cherry with hand-rubbed Oil and Wax Finish.
This item is an unassembled and unfinished kit. All physical components to make this as a project are included along with instructions, however, you will be required to provide the necessary sandpaper, glue, and finish--as well as be reasonably comfortable with your own skills to obtain a satisfactory result.
