Shaker Weaver's Chair
At the Canterbury, New Hampshire Shaker community, the large Shaker hand looms required chairs with high seats, so the weavers could sit close to their work. The same chairs were also used at shop desks, laundry and ironing tables, and tailors' counters. Today, they are wonderfully suited for use as counter chairs or bar stools in the kitchen or family room. An example of the Shakers' ability to combine utility with beauty.
We make the Weaver's Chair in hard maple. Height of back is 39". Width 18 3/4". Depth 14".
Shown in hard maple with a hand-rubbed Oil and Wax Finish; woven in 1" Maroon Shaker chair tape in a checkerboard pattern.
