Shaker Elders Chair - unassembled and unfinished kit
With its generous proportions and stately lines, this classic Shaker armchair is exceptionally comfortable. The original was made at the Mt. Lebanon, New York Shaker community in the Second Family chair factory. The slender finials on the rear posts and the "mushroom" turnings on the armrests are copied in precise detail from the original. While distinctive by itself as a living or family room piece, it is particularly handsome when used with our Straight Chair in the dining room.
We make the Elder's Chair in a clear cherry or hard maple frame. Height of back is 51 1/2". Height to top of arms 27 1/4". Height of seat 18". Width 22". Depth 18".
Shown assembled in clear cherry with a hand-rubbed Oil and Wax Finish; woven in 1" Scarlet and 1" Natural Shaker chair tape in a checkerboard pattern.
This item is an unassembled and unfinished kit. All physical components to make this as a project are included along with instructions, however, you will be required to provide the necessary sandpaper, glue, and finish--as well as be reasonably comfortable with your own skills to obtain a satisfactory result.
