Enfield Shaker Night Table - unassembled and unfinished kit
What we call bedrooms, the Shakers called "retiring rooms". At the Great Stone Dwelling in Enfield, New Hampshire Shaker community - where this piece originated - each retiring room accommodated as many as four Shakers. Aside from the beds, the rooms contained only a rocker, a table like this one, one or two candle stands, a hanging sconce, and perhaps a mirror. The design of this piece is typical of the refined work of the Enfield Shakers. The original is in a private collection.
We make the Enfield Night Table utilizing mortise-and-tenon joinery on the legs and aprons, with a dovetailed drawer. Clear hard maple, with a drawer interior of pine. Height is 25 3/4". Top measures 22 1/2" wide x 15 3/8" deep.
Shown in an Oil & Wax Finish.
