Shaker Low Back Chair
This chair neatly exemplifies the Shaker's sense of practicality - it was designed with a low two-slat back so that it could be tucked under the table after mealtime. Its lightweight, sturdy construction and space-saving size make it perfect for use in the kitchen or dining room, next to the telephone, or in front of a dressing table. The original was made at the Mt. Lebanon, New York Shaker community about 1850.
We make the Low-Back Chair in hard maple. Height of back is 27". Height of seat 17". Width 18 3/4". Depth 14".
Shown in hard maple with a hand-rubbed Oil and Wax Finish; woven in 1" Evergreen and 1" Natural Shaker chair tape in a checkerboard pattern.
