Shaker Bed Frame
Shaker Bed Frame (Twin, Full, or Queen) - unassembled and unfinished kit
PRODUCT CLOSEOUT and CLEARANCE!
This bedstead illustrates the Shaker's belief that simple things are the most beautiful and the most useful. This bed is made with a solid Eastern white pine headboard, double-tenoned and pinned into the hard maple headposts. The rest of the frame is also solid hard maple. This combination of woods is typical of the work of the Mt. Lebanon, New York Shakers, where this piece originated.
We have adapted the bed for modern mattresses by raising the headboard 3" up from the head rail, as shown in the photograph. Height from top of head rail to top of headboard is 15 1/4". Height of headposts is 34". Height of footposts 23 1/2". Available in twin, full, and queen sizes. Shown in Medium Stain with Lacquer Finish.
Available only with plain solid maple side rails (not shown--depicted are side rails for a rope-bed version which is no longer offered) and sturdy iron "L" brackets to accommodate a modern box spring and mattress. Box spring and mattress not included.
This item is an unassembled and unfinished kit. All physical components to make this as a project are included along with instructions, however, you will be required to provide the necessary sandpaper, glue, and finish--as well as be reasonably comfortable with your own skills to obtain a satisfactory result.
Before ordering, please review important information regarding lead times and shipping charges, as well as our returns and exchange policy.
Please note that although this item is a closeout and clearance of recently discovered old inventory, we currently have a healthy backlog of work, meaning that our regular lead times (leaning hard on the longer side) will still apply.
It should be also noted that some parts of this kit, given their age, may have some blemishes or discoloration. For that reason, it is recommended only to finish with a darker stain or paint.
Shaker Wall Clock
Shaker Wall Clock - unassembled and unfinished kit
PRODUCT CLOSEOUT and CLEARANCE!
"The clock is an emblem of a Shaker community because everything goes on time," wrote a Shaker elder in 1887. This elegant example, the work of Brother Isaac N. Youngs of New Lebanon, New York, was designed for use either on a wall or on a shelf. It is now in the collection of the Groton, Massachusetts Historical Society.
We make the case from clear cherry, with a pine back. With painted wooden dial, accurately reproduced hands, quartz-regulated pendulum movement, and round glass. This Shaker Wall Clock measures 13 1/2" wide x 4" deep x 20 1/4" high. Shown in an oil and wax finish.
