No. 5 Tape Back Shaker Side Chair with Shawl Rail - unassembled and unfinished kit
The Mt. Lebanon Shakers designed chairs which are more than simple, functional, and well made. They are comfortable, too. We like to use these as dining chairs for that reason. They also make great occasional chairs in a living or family room. The backposts are bent to the rear and the back rails are generously curved, so that the taped back "fits" a person - tall or short - perfectly.
We reproduce the No. 5 Tape Back Shaker Side Chair with Shawl Rail in hard maple. Height of back is 40 3/4". Height of seat 17 1/2". Width 20 3/4". Depth 17 1/8".
Shown in medium stained maple with a hard-rubbed oil and wax finish; woven in 5/8" Evergreen and 5/8" Beige Shaker chair tape in a diamond pattern.
This item is an unassembled and unfinished kit. All physical components to make this as a project are included along with instructions, however, you will be required to provide the necessary sandpaper, glue, and finish--as well as be reasonably comfortable with your own skills to obtain a satisfactory result.
